Gilbert Kombe

Our dear colleague and cherished friend Gilbert Kombe passed away November 6, 2009, at Sibley Hospital in Washington, D.C. Gilbert is survived by his wife, Karin Theophile Kombe, a son, Adrian Kafita, and daughter, Emily Porter, of Takoma Park, Maryland.

Gilbert was important to us professionally and personally and had a great impact throughout the world as a clinician, a professor, a project leader, a mentor and a friend. His colleagues describe him as larger than life, one who could juggle multiple professional commitments but always putting his family first. Despite all of the demands on his time he personally touched so many of us.

Remembering Gilbert Kombe
